Every resident deserves to feel safe in their home, neighbourhood, downtown, parks, and public spaces.

Throughout his term, Adam has consistently advocated for practical solutions that improve public safety while addressing complex social issues responsibly.

His work includes:

• Introducing his Catch and Release Motion, calling for stronger action to address repeat offenders and the impacts of the justice system on community safety.
• Fought for action on dangerous encampments and drug-related crime. Taxpayers have rights and deserve to be safe.
• Successfully advocated for action regarding the dangerous encampment behind 150 Main Street.
• Continued advocating for real treatment and recovery for people suffering from addiction, not simply enabling people to remain trapped in addiction.
• Repeatedly taking addiction and safety concerns to all levels of government.
• Advocating for safer streets and neighbourhoods throughout Cambridge.

Affordable Housing: Homes That Work for Real Families

Housing affordability is about more than supply. It means ensuring that working families, young people, renters and seniors have a realistic chance to afford a home. Adam Cooper supports practical measures that reduce housing costs, protect renters and help more Canadians achieve home ownership.

Affordable housing must be about more than building more units. It must mean creating homes that working families, seniors and young people can realistically afford and live in. 

• Expand federal HST relief for homebuyers: Support expanding existing federal HST rebates to help more Canadians purchase a home and reduce the upfront cost of homeownership.
• Protect renters: Adam brought forward a Rent Protection Motion at Council to pursue stronger protections for tenants facing rising rents. He believes affordability must include keeping people in their homes, not just building new ones.
• Put families first: Recognize the real costs families face, including housing, transportation, utilities and other everyday expenses.
• Support attainable home ownership: Advocate for practical measures that help first-time buyers and working families enter the housing market.
• Promote responsible growth: Ensure new housing is supported by the infrastructure and services residents need.

Responsible Spending

Taxpayers deserve a Council that spends responsibly, asks difficult questions, and delivers value for every dollar.

Throughout his term Adam has:

• Carefully reviewed City budgets and major spending proposals.
• Asked tough questions before approving significant expenditures.
• Supported investments that improve essential infrastructure and community services.
• Advocated for greater accountability and transparency in municipal decision-making.
• Worked to protect taxpayers while ensuring Cambridge continues to invest in priorities that matter.

Smart Growth, Not Toronto-Style Development

Cambridge is growing, but growth should strengthen our community, not fundamentally change what makes it special.

Adam has consistently advocated for:

• Growth that respects existing neighbourhoods.
• Development that reflects Cambridge, not downtown Toronto.
• Protecting established residential communities from inappropriate high-rise developments.
• Realistic parking requirements that recognize how Cambridge families actually live.
• Planning decisions that properly consider traffic, infrastructure capacity, schools, parks, and community services before approving major developments.
• Housing solutions that provide choice while respecting existing neighbourhoods and ensuring growth remains sustainable.

Standing Up For Cambridge At Every Level

Representing Cambridge means advocating not only at City Council but wherever decisions affecting our residents are made.

Throughout his term, Adam has consistently taken concerns directly to Waterloo Regional Council, provincial ministers, and directly to Ottawa, ensuring our community’s voice is heard on important regional decisions.

Adam believes that Cambridge deserves strong representation that is prepared to speak up when necessary and work collaboratively at every level of government to achieve practical results.

Improving Our Roads & Neighbourhoods

Transportation decisions should improve residents’ quality of life, not reduce it.

Adam has:

• Successfully fought to get heavy trucks out of downtown Galt and residential streets.
• Successfully pushed to include Concession St & Main St in the regional truck restrictions.
• Took the fight to Regional Council when action was needed beyond City Hall.
• Successfully advocated for the McQueen Shaver Boulevard sound wall.
• Led the effort to establish McQueen Shaver as a Community Safety Zone to address speeding and dangerous driving.
• Continued fighting for action on speeding, stunt driving and street racing on McQueen Shaver.
• Successfully advocated for a new pedestrian crosswalk on Concession Street.

Standing Up For Seniors & Veterans

Our community is stronger because of the generations who built it and the veterans who served our country.

Adam’s work includes:

• Introducing the Veterans Crosswalk Motion to recognize and honour those who served Canada.
• Introducing amendments related to long-term care homes to strengthen protections and prevent senior couples from being separated when they need each other the most.
• Supporting housing initiatives that consider the needs of seniors in our city.
• Realistic parking requirements that recognize that seniors want the freedom to drive their cars.
• Passionate participation in Remembrance Day ceremonies and veterans’ events throughout the community.
