Proven Leadership. Proven Results.

Since being elected in 2022, I have worked every day to protect Cambridge’s unique character while delivering practical, common-sense solutions for residents.

My priorities have remained consistent: safer neighbourhoods, responsible spending, smart growth, stronger communities, and ensuring that Cambridge remains a city where families, seniors, businesses, and future generations can thrive.

Below are examples of the work I have undertaken on behalf of our community.

Adam Cooper - Cambridge Ward 6 Candidate

Keeping Cambridge Safe

Every resident deserves to feel safe in their home, neighbourhood, downtown, parks, and public spaces.

Throughout my term, I have consistently advocated for practical solutions that improve public safety while addressing complex social issues responsibly.

My work includes:

  • Introducing my Catch and Release Motion, calling for stronger action to address repeat offenders and the impacts of the justice system on community safety.
  • Speaking out about the impact that unsafe encampments, open drug use, and related criminal activity have had on nearby residents, businesses, and public spaces.
  • Supporting long-term solutions that help vulnerable individuals while ensuring neighbourhoods remain safe for everyone.
  • Working closely with residents, businesses, police, and community organizations to identify practical solutions to public safety concerns.
  • Advocating for safer streets and neighbourhoods throughout Cambridge.

Responsible Spending

Taxpayers deserve a Council that spends responsibly, asks difficult questions, and delivers value for every dollar.

Throughout my term I have:

  • Carefully reviewed City budgets and major spending proposals.
  • Asked tough questions before approving significant expenditures.
  • Supported investments that improve essential infrastructure and community services.
  • Advocated for greater accountability and transparency in municipal decision-making.
  • Worked to protect taxpayers while ensuring Cambridge continues to invest in priorities that matter.

Smart Growth, Not Toronto-Style Development

Cambridge is growing, but growth should strengthen our community, not fundamentally change what makes it special.

I believe Cambridge should continue to grow while preserving the character, livability, and identity that residents value.

I have consistently advocated for:

  • Growth that respects existing neighbourhoods.
  • Development that reflects Cambridge—not downtown Toronto.
  • Protecting established residential communities from inappropriate high-rise developments.
  • Realistic parking requirements that recognize how Cambridge families actually live.
  • Planning decisions that properly consider traffic, infrastructure capacity, schools, parks, and community services before approving major developments.
  • Housing solutions that provide choice while respecting existing neighbourhoods and ensuring growth remains sustainable.

Growth should be responsible, balanced, and supported by the infrastructure our community needs.

Standing Up For Cambridge At Every Level

Representing Cambridge means advocating not only at City Council but wherever decisions affecting our residents are made.

Throughout my term I have made delegations to Regional Council on issues affecting Cambridge residents, ensuring our community’s voice is heard on important regional decisions.

I believe Cambridge deserves strong representation that is prepared to speak up when necessary and work collaboratively to achieve practical results.

Improving Our Roads & Neighbourhoods

Transportation decisions should improve residents’ quality of life, not reduce it.

I have successfully advocated for:

  • Diverting heavy truck traffic away from Cambridge’s historic downtown and residential streets.
  • Transportation planning that recognizes the needs of families, seniors, commuters, and local businesses.
  • Road safety improvements where they are needed most.
  • Realistic parking requirements that recognize how Cambridge families actually live.
  • Planning decisions that properly consider traffic, infrastructure capacity, schools, parks, and community services before approving major developments.
  • Planning that balances investment in public transit with the reality that many residents continue to rely on their vehicles every day.

Building a Stronger Downtown

Downtown Cambridge is one of our city’s greatest assets.

I believe our historic core should be a destination for residents and visitors alike.

My work has included:

  • Successfully bringing Latin Night to Main Street as a new community celebration.
  • Successfully advancing the Main Street Closure Motion to create opportunities for festivals, events, patios, and tourism.
  • Supporting initiatives that attract visitors, strengthen local businesses, and showcase Cambridge’s unique character.
  • Supporting initiatives that attract visitors, strengthen local businesses, and showcase Cambridge’s unique character.
  • Promoting tourism as an important driver of economic development.
  • Successfully advocated for the removal of the dangerous encampment behind 150 Main St.
  • Advocated for a safer, cleaner shelter system that respected the downtown core and surrounding community.

A vibrant downtown benefits residents, businesses, and our local economy.

Standing Up For Seniors & Veterans

Our community is stronger because of the generations who built it and the veterans who served our country.

My work includes:

  • Introducing the Veterans Crosswalk Motion to recognize and honour those who served Canada.
  • Introducing amendments related to long-term care homes to strengthen protections and prevent senior couples from being separated when they need each other the most.
  • Supporting housing initiatives that consider the needs of seniors in our city.
  • Realistic parking requirements that recognize that seniors want the freedom to drive their cars.
  • Passionate participation in Remembrance Day ceremonies and veterans’ events throughout the community.

Delivering Results

I believe leadership is measured by results.

During my first term I introduced or championed initiatives including:

  • Catch and Release Motion
  • Rent Protection Motion
  • Veterans Crosswalk Motion
  • Long-Term Care Amendment Motion
  • McQueen Shaver Safety Zone Motion
